The value in a Maverick Independent Book Review is knowing that you will receive an honest, thoughtful critique. If a book has significant problems, or includes areas that need improvement, a reviewer will point them out. Likewise, we always give praise where praise is due.

You have the power to decide whether to publish your review or not, for any reason. Once your review is complete, we will send you a link to the unpublished review. You then have the opportunity to click on the publish button or to submit revisions if there are any factual errors (e.g., misspelled last name, or wrong ISBN). If the review is not as positive as you had hoped, you can choose not to publish it.

If you select publish, we will publish your review within a week and you are welcome to share it far and wide. In the following two weeks, it will be included in our newsletter and social media efforts.

We hire reviewers with professional credentials, such as published clips from other respected review sites. We also match books with reviewers who have specific experience in those genres. We always check with our reviewers to make sure they’re interested in your specific title, to make sure there is the greatest possible chance of a positive review and to ensure they’re excited and engaged in your book.

Absolutely not! And we will try to match your book with a reviewer who understands and appreciates niche genres and niche audiences.

For regular reviews, your manuscript should be designed and ready for publication. PDFs or epubs are preferred submission formats. If the book is an audio book, please send us the regular audio files. More information on our product listing is coming soon.

We accept all genres and all formats (including audio). We request an electronic version of your book. We only review books written in English. We do not accept print copies.

To protect our reviewers and to make sure reviews remain as unbiased as possible, we do not allow direct communication between the author and reviewer. But if you have any questions throughout the process, you’re welcome to contact our team.

Absolutely not. We are pleased to offer reviews prior to your publication date--or, unlike many review websites, anytime after your publishing date. Whether you're looking for a review prior to your book's publication, soon after your book's publication, or to refresh your book's metadata with a new review even years after publication, we are happy to provide a review.
