Michael Lingo’s The Adventures of Bunny and Fawn is a charming story with

heart.

Lingo dedicates his inspiring picture book to “My little inspirations, Pixie (Fawn) and

Lulu (Bunny). They are my four-legged children, and without them, this book wouldn’t have

been possible.” His love for animals shows in the well-crafted plot. He thanks his wife,

Bridgid, who “told me I can do anything I want, and she was right … Without her

collaboration, the idea for this book may not have happened.”

Bunny is an energetic, playful and curious bunny. She shares a beautiful friendship with

Fawn, who is calm, quiet and more cautious by nature. They have been living together in a

log since they were babies and call each other sister. Fawn encourages Bunny to explore,

solve problems, and live an adventurous life. A bad storm damages the log they call home,

and they have to leave in a hurry. The storm pushes Bunny and Fawn apart and separates

them. Desperately, they try to find each other again, but the forest is a dangerous place and

they have to overcome all kinds of obstacles. Will they ever see each other again?

This tale explores friendship, trust, loyalty and perseverance. Children learn to

think before they act and that home is where the heart is. They also learn your family might not be the one you're born into, but one that you choose. Although the illustrations are

beautiful and atmospheric, I think brighter colours will be more appealing to young children.
